Much Better, Thank You For Asking

To all those who listened to me complain and cry about my back killing me these back 10 weeks or so... Thank You! I'm feeling MUCH-O BETTER-O!!

Still hurting a bit, but the brunt of it is gone. I've applied for Medicaid and when that comes through I'll run to the ol' doc and get it checked out. I hope I don't have the hip thing that Mom and Sarah have... :/

Solve.

See how this puppy works out for ya'll:

(-3a)/(a+12) = (6)/(a-13)

We know that the demoninator cannot be zero because you cannot divide by zero, therefore, a cannot be -12 (because -12+12=0) and a cannot be 13 (because 13-13=0).

Go from there...

The common denominator is (a+12)(a-13). After cross multiplying, you'll get:

-3a(a-13) = 6(a+12)

No more fractions. YAY! Now, distribute:

-3a^2+39 = 6a+72

Now, set your equation to zero, which means to subtract 6a from both sides and subtract 72 from both sides. You'll get:

-3a^2-6a-33=0

We have a greatest common factor that needs to come out. We do this to set our variable to a single, squared variable. This problem looks like this now:

-3(a^2+2a+11)=)

Now we're going to factor this trinomial. Take 11 and find the factor (number multiplied together) to get 11 that when added equal to 2. There are only two numbers that can be multiplied to get 11, 11*1=11 or -11*-1=+11. But neither equal 2. 11+1=12 and -11-1=-12

What do I do now? I'll ask the teacher Monday because, um, I'm stuck! The answers are (a= 3, 8), but how if it cannot be factored? Complete the square? But that wouldn't give you a perfect square. Argh! >:(

T.H.I.N.K. about it a bit, will ya?

Before you speak, THINK:

T - is it True?
H - is it Helpful?
I - is it Inspiring?
N - is it Necessary?
K - is it Kind?

Before you speak, THINK!

the pursuit of HAPPYness

So ready to get the phase of my life started that revolves a bit around me...

Sounds a bit selfish, and I guess it is... I do want things served to me on a gold platter, but I don't have to have it that way because I don't "need" it that way. I'm willing to work for it, but I want it given to me when I've put in my dues. And I have...its long over due for me to be happier - Happy period!

Drive Much?!

After quite a shaky morning I am finally on my way to school. I'm driving up Hwy 190 headed into Jasper and I'm about where Hilcrest Baptist Church is and the lady in a champaigne colored care pulls right out in front of me. And I'm not exagerating. I went from a comfortable 70 mph speed to almost touching her bumper at a 50 mph crawl. It was somewhat foggy, maybe she didn't see me...(fog wasn't that bad, my truck is bright red and my headlights were on (not just my park lights)).

I'm cool... We're only up to 60 mph by the time we reach Fain & Smather's Vet Hospital where the road turns from a two-lane highway into a four-lane. Instead of getting into the slower, right lane, she chooses to remain in the faster, left lane. No biggie... I easily pass her without having to speed to do so and I turn my left blinker on to move with the road back into the regular two-lane highway. I follow the right white line, gently moving back into that lane when I see she is speeding up!! So, I go ahead and turn in front of her knowing that if I do so, it shouldn't cause her to use her brakes.

I'm basically in the lane when I hear *HONK!!!!!!!* That crazy chick was honking at me for getting in front of her! Really?! I didn't honk at you, crazy lady! Seperating the two lanes of traffic is a turning lane and next thing I know, she's in it passing me! I didn't even look over at her and give her an ugly look - or a "woops" look, either.

When she gets forcibly in front of me AGAIN, she slows right back down to 50ish! Right before Jasper's first light the lane splits into four lanes again and she gets right back in the fast lane...Needless to say, I stay in the slow lane, again, and easily pass her again. She merges into the right lane behind me and gets right behind me only to merge right back into the left lane to turn onto the road between Lowe's and Wal-Mart.

Why me?! I didn't start anything. I didn't even finish anything. I just wanted to get to class on time... You pulled in front of me! You were 15-20 miles under the speed limit! You stayed in the fast/passing lane! GGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Drive much?!
